Yahoo! Buzz – Bookmarking By Yahoo!

Yahoo! Buzz is the latest addition to the Yahoo! Network wherein it features the most popular stories determined by people around the web.

It is like the popular bookmarking site Digg wherein contents are ranked based on votes and search term popularity. What’s better with it is that top stories will be featured on the Yahoo! homepage which will definitely give publishers good traffic to their sites that contains the full story.

At the moment, Yahoo! Buzz is still in beta but will be accepting publishers soon, just stay tune for their updates.

What Is XML?

A friend asked me earlier, what is XML? Well, he’s a blogger and he probably met this term most of the time as it’s all over the web that’s why I wonder why he don’t know it’s meaning and the importance of it.

XML is short for Extensible Markup Language made to transport structured data across different systems and platforms.

I remember an article from W3C pointing out the following things:

  • XML is for structuring data
  • XML looks a bit like HTML
  • XML is text, but isn’t meant to be read
  • XML is verbose by design
